- 1 lb halal turkey breakfast sausage or halal beef sausage
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2½ cups milk
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Optional toppings: shredded cheddar cheese, green onions, fried eggs
Instructions
- Bake tater tots according to package instructions until crispy and golden.
- While tots bake, cook halal sausage in a skillet over medium heat until fully browned.
- Add butter to the skillet and let it melt. Sprinkle flour over the sausage and stir for 1 minute.
- Slowly pour in milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Season with garlic powder, black pepper, and salt. Simmer until thick and creamy, about 5–7 minutes.
- Assemble bowls with crispy tater tots and spoon sausage gravy generously over the top.
- Add optional toppings if desired and serve hot.
Notes
- You can use any halal sausage if turkey or beef is preferred.
- For extra crispiness, bake the tots a few minutes longer or broil briefly at the end.
- If the gravy thickens too much, whisk in a splash more milk until reaching desired consistency.
