Instructions
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk and let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Stir in sugar, egg, vanilla, and melted butter.
- Add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover and let rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Roll dough to about ¼-inch thickness and cut into squares.
- Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) and fry beignets 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
- Drain on paper towels and generously dust with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm.

- Allow the dough to rise fully for light, airy beignets.
- Keep oil at 350°F (175°C) for even frying.
- Dust with powdered sugar while the beignets are still warm.
- Leftover dough can be refrigerated for up to 2 hours before shaping.
