- 12 oz rigatoni
- 1 lb halal turkey Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- ½ tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add turkey sausage and cook until browned, breaking it apart.
- Add onion and sauté 3–4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Add uncooked rigatoni directly into the skillet. Stir well.
- Cover and simmer 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in heavy cream and cheese until melted and creamy.
- Cook 2–3 more minutes to thicken.
- Garnish with parsley or basil and serve warm.
Notes
- Use gluten-free rigatoni if needed to make this gluten-free.
- For a lighter option, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream or use low-fat cheese.
- Adjust salt and pepper to taste, especially if your sausage is particularly salty.
