Description

Spinach Dip Graveyard Scene – a creepy, creamy Halloween spinach dip that is decorated with edible tombstones and spiders for a spooky party appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 (10 oz) bag fresh spinach (or 1 cup frozen, thawed and drained)
  • 1 (8 oz) block cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or white cheddar cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For decoration: Grave crackers (rectangular or cut pita into tombstone shapes)
  • Black olives (for spiders)
  • Fresh herbs or crushed tortilla chips (for dirt)
  • Red bell pepper or sriracha (for creepy blood effect, optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté garlic and onion until translucent, about 3–4 minutes.
  2. Add spinach and cook until wilted (or warmed through if using frozen). Remove from heat.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, sour cream, mayo, and shredded cheese until smooth. Stir in the spinach mixture.
  4. Season with salt and pepper, then transfer to a black serving dish or baking tray.
  5. Smooth the top of the dip and create a graveyard scene using cracker tombstones, olive spiders (slice olive in half for body, then into strips for legs), and herbs or crushed chips for dirt.
  6. Optional: Add red pepper strips or sriracha blood for an extra creepy vibe.

Notes

  • Tip: Serve with grave crackers or cut pita for tombstones and black olive spiders.
  • To make it gluten-free, serve with gluten-free crackers or vegetables instead of crackers.
  • Leftovers can be reheated on low in a microwave or serving dish; stir before serving.
  • If using frozen spinach, thaw and squeeze out excess moisture before mixing.
