- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small head green cabbage, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup cooked white rice
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup water or beef broth
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat; drain excess fat.
- Lightly grease the slow cooker and add chopped cabbage to the bottom.
- Top with cooked ground beef, onion, and garlic.
- Stir in cooked rice, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Pour water or broth over the mixture and gently stir to combine.
- Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high for 3–4 hours, until cabbage is tender and flavors are well blended.
- Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a lighter version, use lean ground beef.
- If you don’t have ready-cooked rice, cook it briefly before mixing.
- You can substitute ground turkey for beef.
- Stir before serving to ensure even seasoning.
