Description

Overnight Croissant Breakfast Casserole: Soft, rich, and cozy, this make-ahead brunch dish features flaky croissants soaking in a creamy custard with cheese and optional turkey bacon or halal sausage for festive holiday mornings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 67 large croissants, torn into pieces
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (or half-and-half for extra richness)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Gruyère
  • 1 cup cooked turkey bacon or halal breakfast sausage (optional)
  • 1 small onion, finely diced (optional)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Fresh chives or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13 baking dish and add the croissant pieces.
  2. If using turkey bacon or halal sausage, cook and crumble it. Add over the croissants.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour the mixture evenly over the croissants.
  5. Sprinkle cheese over the top.
  6. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours) to let the croissants absorb the custard.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Bake uncovered for 35–45 minutes until golden, set, and slightly puffed.
  9. Garnish with fresh chives or parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use skim milk or 2% milk instead of half-and-half.
  • Omission of meat makes this a vegetarian-friendly option.
  • You can prepare this casserole the night before and bake in the morning for a quick brunch.
  • Let it rest for a few minutes after baking to set before slicing.
  • You can customize with your favorite cheese or add sautéed vegetables for extra color.
