- 1 lb ground beef (halal)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 6 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped green onions or parsley for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish.
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef with onion and garlic until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then half of the beef mixture, and sprinkle a little cheese.
- Repeat with the remaining potatoes, beef, and cheese.
- In a bowl, whisk cream of mushroom soup with beef broth. Pour evenly over the casserole.
- Cover with foil and bake 45 minutes, then uncover and bake another 10–15 minutes until potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
- Garnish with green onions or parsley if desired.
