Description

Easy Christmas Crack Cookies: a festive, no-fail holiday treat with buttery toffee, crisp crackers, and a soft cookie dough layer.


Ingredients

  • 1 sleeve salted crackers (such as saltines or any square buttery cracker)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 roll refrigerated sugar cookie dough
  • Optional toppings: crushed candy canes, sprinkles, chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange crackers in a single layer to fully cover the baking sheet.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until it reaches a gentle boil. Continue boiling for 3 minutes until thickened.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the toffee mixture evenly over the crackers and spread gently.
  6. Bake for 8–10 minutes until bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let stand 2 minutes, then spread into a smooth chocolate layer.
  8. Slice the sugar cookie dough into thin pieces and lay them across the warm chocolate layer.
  9. Return to the oven for 10–12 minutes until cookie dough is lightly golden.
  10. Add optional toppings while warm.
  11. Cool completely, then chill at least 2 hours until firm before breaking into pieces.
