Description

Duchess Potatoes are elegant, fluffy mashed potato swirls that are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, making them a perfect crowd-pleasing side dish for holidays and special dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 egg yolks
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: extra egg yolk for brushing
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15 minutes.
  2. Drain well, then mash until completely smooth with no lumps.
  3. Stir in butter, heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Once slightly cooled, mix in the egg yolks until creamy and well combined.
  5. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  6. Pipe potato swirls onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. For extra golden color, lightly brush each swirl with an additional egg yolk.
  8. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 15–20 minutes until golden and crisp on the edges.

  • Garnish with fresh parsley for a bright finish.
