- 12 oz halal chicken sausage, sliced into coins
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup dry orzo pasta
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional: red pepper flakes or lemon zest for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken sausage and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add onion and garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the orzo and toast for 1–2 minutes.
- Pour in chicken broth and milk. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, for 8–10 minutes until orzo is al dente and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Add broccoli and cooked sausage to the skillet. Cover and cook for 3–4 more minutes, until broccoli is tender.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese, season with salt and pepper, and mix until creamy and well combined.
- Serve hot, with optional red pepper flakes or lemon zest for extra flavor.
