Ingredients
Scale
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup white sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- For the Cinnamon Swirl:
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp cinnamon
- For the Glaze:
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes to make rolling easier.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Brush with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly with brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Roll the dough tightly into a log, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the chilled dough into ¼-inch rounds and place on a lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until lightly golden on the edges.
- For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over cooled cookies before serving.
Notes
- Chill the dough for at least 1 hour to make rolling easier and the spirals hold their shape.
- Drizzle with glaze after cookies have cooled for a glossy finish.
- Best enjoyed the same day, but store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
