Cinnamon Roll Apple Lasagna

  • Author: Freya Allen
  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6–8 1x

Description

A cozy, gooey, and irresistibly sweet dessert made with layers of cinnamon roll dough and spiced apple filling, topped with melted vanilla icing. It’s like apple pie meets cinnamon roll in the most delicious way.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Apple Filling:
  • 4 cups peeled, diced apples (about 4 medium apples)
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Layers:
  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls (with icing included)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the pan)
  • Optional Add-ins:
  • Chopped walnuts or pecans
  • Caramel drizzle
  • Pumpkin pie spice
  • Cream cheese frosting
  • Dried cranberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly butter a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine apples, sugar, cornstarch, and cinnamon. Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring frequently, until apples soften and mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Separate the cinnamon rolls and flatten each slightly with your hands or a rolling pin.
  4. Press half of the flattened cinnamon rolls into the bottom of the baking dish to form the first layer.
  5. Spoon half of the apple mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls.
  6. Repeat with remaining cinnamon rolls and top with the rest of the apple filling.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Drizzle with the included icing while still warm. Let sit for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Let the dish cool slightly before slicing for cleaner layers.
  • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze up to 2 months.
  • Reheat slices in a toaster oven or skillet for best texture.
  • Try adding nuts or cranberries for extra flavor and texture.
