- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour (or gluten-free flour)
- ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional for extra crunch)
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Optional: smoked paprika or cayenne for added flavor
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, separate onion slices into rings and toss with olive oil.
- In another bowl, mix flour, breadcrumbs (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Toss onions in the flour mixture until well coated. Shake off excess.
- Arrange in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Work in batches if needed.
- Air fry for 12–15 minutes, shaking halfway through, until golden and crisp.
- Let cool slightly before using on your favorite dishes.
Notes
- For best results, keep onions in a single layer and avoid overcrowding the basket.
- Use gluten-free flour if you need a gluten-free version (the flour and breadcrumbs are the main coating).
- Adjust the spices to taste; smoked paprika or cayenne adds extra heat and depth.
